Healing, One Hand at a Time â

Happy Sunday!

I’m sitting at my local coffee shop, slowly typing this post with one hand.

I needed to get out of the house. One of my goals is to spend at least two hours each week somewhere other than home, focusing on writing, art, marketing, or simply being productive.

I didn’t want to venture too far because I’m still healing, and my ice packs have become my best friends. They help with both the discomfort and—believe it or not—the itching. Yes… it itches in the one spot I can’t reach. Whoever designed the human body clearly never had to wear a post-surgery bandage.

If you’ve been following along, you know it’s been a bit of a whirlwind lately. Between ongoing health issues, writing procrastination, surgery on my right wrist and thumb, and the publishing nightmare I’ve been dealing with, life has certainly kept me on my toes.

The publishing situation continues to drag on. After so many problems, I requested a refund, and somehow things became even more complicated. The company has repeatedly set timelines for responding to emails and resolving business matters, only to miss those deadlines again and again. This has been going on for months. I’ve tried to remain patient—although, I’ll admit, each email I send has become a little more direct than the last. I’ve intentionally held off on posting any public reviews because I wanted to give them every reasonable opportunity to make things right. Once everything has finally been resolved, I’ll let you know how it all turned out.

Now for a quick health update.

I go in tomorrow for my two-week post-surgery checkup, and I’m actually excited about it! Even if all they do is change the dressing, at least it will let some air in… and maybe—just maybe—I’ll finally get to scratch that hidden itch on my palm that has been driving me crazy.

You really don’t appreciate how much you use a body part until you suddenly can’t. I’ve always had tremendous respect for people who have lost limbs or live with physical limitations and still find ways to adapt. Going through even this temporary experience has given me an even deeper appreciation for their strength and determination.

On a much lighter note, I was absolutely thrilled the first time I managed to put on my own socks and shoes without any help. It’s funny how something so ordinary can suddenly feel like a major accomplishment.

I also have to give a huge thank you to my boyfriend for his patience these past couple of weeks. I’m fiercely independent, and asking for help has never come naturally to me. During those first five days after surgery, when my left wrist decided to join the protest and become painful too, he was an absolute trooper.

I don’t make a very good patient. I like doing things myself, and if something isn’t happening fast enough—or the way I think it should—I’m usually trying to do it anyway. Unfortunately, when you’re not supposed to use one of your hands, that can become frustrating for everyone involved. So yes, putting on my own socks and shoes with one hand deserved a little celebration.

To make the week even more interesting, I also came down with either a touch of food poisoning or a 24-hour stomach bug. That was fun… NOT! Needless to say, I spent a good portion of the week sleeping and trying to regain some energy.

Which brings me to the close of today’s post.

I’m ready to head home to my ice packs, my wonderfully comfy nap couch, and finish up the last few goals I have for both the day and the week. Thankfully, those can all be accomplished from home.

Don’t forget to watch for my videos on TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and Facebook. I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things, and I’m looking forward to sharing more with you soon.

Till next time, do your best to fill your week with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.
