Traveling….. Where ‘ol where did I go?
You all know where I went.
I flew to Texas, and then my sister, my niece, and I drove to Florida. Well… my sister did all the driving.
When she got tired, we’d pull over at places that seemed reasonably safe and take a nap. We made plenty of potty breaks along the way, and at one point in Florida we had to pull over because of an incredibly bad thunderstorm.
The rain was coming down in sheets, the lightning was nonstop, and one crack of thunder was so loud it felt like it struck right beside my door.
I don’t usually jump at loud noises, but that one got me. I definitely jumped.
Yesterday was a wonderful day.
We met up with a friend of mine from when I lived in Las Vegas. T.B. is one of those rare people who is exactly who they appear to be—a genuinely kind, honest, and caring person. Someone you can count on for good advice and truthful conversations.
He’s the kind of friend you can talk to every day or not see for eight years, and somehow you just pick up right where you left off.
We spent approximately an hour of so walking through Three Sisters Springs Wildlife Refuge. There weren’t any manatees this time of year, but it was still a beautiful walk. I had to stop several times to catch my breath and let my knee rest, but it was well worth it.
Afterward, we did a little shopping before heading over to Crystal River Beach. I had fun feeding a tiny adorable squirrel and some cute long-beaked birds—I’m still not sure what kind they were.
I managed to get some decent pictures, so I’ll be sharing those here.
After saying goodbye to my friend (until next time), we hit the road again.
We drove for a few hours, but after spending the entire day out in the Florida sun, we were exhausted. We pulled over so my sister and niece could sleep for about an hour.
Unfortunately, Restless Leg Syndrome had other plans for me.
After another hour or so of driving, we stopped again and slept until around 6:30 the next morning.
One thing we learned on this trip is that there are definitely places where you don’t want to stop to sleep, get fuel, or even use the restroom. Thankfully, we managed to find good places to stop most of the time.
I’m also happy to say that at no point during our trip did we feel like we were in an unsafe or “negative” area.
Once we finally arrived in Miramar, we were lucky enough to get into our room early.
The very first thing I did?
Take a shower!
After that, I tried recording a video for my social media pages. After recording more than six takes, I finally said, “Screw it,” and posted the last one.
As I mentioned in the video, “I never promised the videos would be good. I only promised I’d post.”
I really am going to do my best to become more comfortable in front of the camera, and hopefully my videos will improve over time.
I also think I’m going to start bringing you along on my health improvement journey. It’s been quite the adventure already, and maybe sharing it will help keep me accountable—and perhaps encourage someone else along the way too.
Well, it’s still fairly early, but I’m completely worn out and ready for some sleep.
If you’d like to come along for the adventure, you can find my videos on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Threads, and occasionally Substack.
I’m listed as Dorey Nolan and/or Creatively Unlimited – Dorey Nolan.
One of these days I’ll finally get all of those links added here to my website.
Until then…
Fill your days with hugs, love, laughter, and many blessings.
Good night. 😴

I guess you can tell who my favorite was. 🤣
