Hello, my friends…
As I sit here writing this, I am taking a minute to reflect on my week, and honestly, it was a great week. Starting with last Sunday, I got to spend some quality time with friends, go to my creative writing class and learn to write poetry, spend quality time with my sweetheart, and play games with family (sister, her husband, my sweetheart, a.k.a. GamFam). I also took naps, enjoyed my favorite drink at our local go-to coffee shop, got caught up on writing, and especially on art. It has been a great week.
Do I have aches and pains? Yes. The chest pains and headaches have gotten stronger and more frequent (napping seems to calm them down and sometimes get rid of them). I’ve been grumpy (which I don’t like to be), and one of my senior dogs hasn’t wanted to eat and has wet his bed a few times. These have put a few momentary dampers on my “great” week, but just dampers. Overall, my days are great. Would I change some things if I could? “Duh, yes.” I would do more traveling and have awesome health. But right now, this very minute, I’m good. I am enjoying my time, and I am grateful for every single second, even the not-so-great ones.
What about you? What are you grateful for? Are you able to pick three things out of your day that you can say, “I am grateful for …”? Regardless of the not-so-great or even bad moments, are you able to look past the dark haze and have a great day?
I hope you can. Because life, and day-to-day stuff, can be overwhelming IF we let it. I know because I have and still do allow “the stuff” to take over, especially my thoughts. I can overthink things to death at times, replaying scenarios, conversations, and silly crap to the point where I have to take a breath and tell myself to STOP! If it’s done, it’s done… if you can change it, then change it… if you can’t change it but you wish you could, then apologize or forget it and move on.
I once heard a wise phrase (no clue who originally said it), but the quote is:
“If you have one foot in the past, and one foot in the future, then you are pissing on the present.” The present is a gift. Unwrap it, enjoy it, and be “present” in it.
So, I am doing my best to be more present and aware. Do you live in the present, the past, or the future? Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and when you open your eyes, smile, and “be in the moment.”
I hope you have a great week, regardless of “the stuff” that might come up. Do your best and remember to be grateful for at least three things each day.
Here are three things I am grateful for me today:
1. My time at the coffee shop with my sweetie.
2. My new art project - Loving it! (I’ll add the pic from today’s work)
3. Getting to sleep in late today.
You’ve seen my three. What are yours?
With that…
Remember to be kind to one and all, including critters and yourself, and have a great week filled with lots of love, laughter, hugs, and blessings. 🌻
