Sleep Deprived but Inspired: How a Crazy Week Sparked New Story Ideas📚

Originally published on May 3, 2026, this post is being reshared from my previous website as part of my new digital home. Thank you for continuing this journey with me!

Happy (Late) Sunday!
I missed you all! I unintentionally took time off—too much time. But I’m back!!!

Between being sick with the flu, the author event, going to my aunt’s funeral, driving back to Texas with my sister (sleep deprivation set in), flying back the next day, and then going to the Toastmasters District Conference the day after I returned—I lost track of my days.

I’ve tried to recover from the sleep issue, but as my regular readers might remember, I am a night owl. So catching up is on the slow side (I know you can’t really catch up on sleep, but it doesn’t hurt to try).

If you read my last blog, I mentioned that one of my aunts had passed away. My sister drove in from Texas, picked me up, and we went to the funeral in Bardstown, KY, and then to the cemetery in Louisville, KY. After everything, we had a really nice lunch with our other aunt and uncle before heading back to Tennessee to drop me off.

We ended up talking way too long, and since my sister had to drive all night to get back to her house in Texas (no stopping to rest), I decided she was not driving back by herself and rode with her.

It worked out wonderfully, though, because I was able to spend a little time with my mini-me niece and go to one of her school events. Unfortunately, I flew back home the very next day.

I got home Wednesday evening, had one day to repack, and then Friday morning headed out for the conference.
Whew… I was one tired chickie.

Once everything slowed down for a second, I realized just how much had happened—and not all of it was expected.

But guess what… while on this whirlwind trip to the funeral and then to the conference, I found three new characters to add to my books.

Also, while at the conference, I contributed a few things to the silent auction:

  1. Be a character in one of my books
  2. A custom art piece (9×12)
  3. A creative guide session

The auction was a success, and now I will be busy creating—and helping others create.

Some may remember I’ve also been using a publishing/marketing company (a vanity press type). They finally were able to get the revised edition of my book out, and as soon as they send me the links to where it can be found, I’ll share them here too.

The frustration now is that they apparently have not read my book and are somewhat clueless about the content. I’ve had to redo several of the social media posts they’ve sent me recently.

They were putting my lead character, Ashley, in a dress during a snowstorm—wrong.
They had my dogman looking like a sickly, storybook werewolf—wrong.
It seemed they couldn’t get over the fact that Ashley wasn’t “heartbroken or running from love” and kept putting that phrase on the slides. They also kept making it a rainy scene when my book is set during a snowstorm.

An umbrella may not help that much in a snowstorm.

Anyway, I’ll put a few of the no so great images in here and a few of the ones I created to be used instead. One lesson I have learned from this is that I can make my own social media posts.

Next project is, of course, writing my next book, Dating Die-Sasters, starting a YouTube channel, and learning how to make AI videos.

Would you like to see my dogman, Wahaya, come to life?
I would.

Anyhow, I’m getting back on track—going to the gym (I’m sore), getting back on the Hashimoto’s Protocol diet for 90 days, organizing my stuff, writing, and starting to share with you again.

But until next time… take care of yourselves—no sleep deprivation antics for me (at least for a while).

Remember to have an amazing week and fill it with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.

Good night, my friends!😴

First two are the companies ideas – the last two I created to replace their ideas. I hope you enjoy the sneak peak of the upcoming media posts. Hugs and Love!🤗
