Have you ever had a day where you felt like a complete slob, like you weren’t doing anything right, and all you wanted to do was lie down and pull the covers over your head until the next day?
I kind of had one of those days yesterday.
I wasn’t having a productive day. Things weren’t working the way I wanted them to, and I couldn’t seem to focus enough to write, draw, or do much of anything productive.
I still need to organize my office, my art supplies, and several other areas. Honestly, the only productive thing that seems to have been happening lately is dealing with getting issues fixed by the publication/marketing company I hired.
I’ve been so distracted by everything involving them that I’ve allowed it to pull my attention away from working on my new novel, the Creative Guide side of my brand, and my art.
So… Saturday became another day of procrastination, lack of productivity, and wanting to just cover my head and disappear for a while.
Then I went to pick up prescriptions and groceries.
The lady at the pharmacy window was nice, and then a very sweet young woman brought my groceries out to the car. We started chatting about the birdseed I bought. She asked if I had a bird, and I explained that the seed was actually for the wild birds — and that they kind of yell at me if I haven’t fed them for a few days.
In fact, they’ve gotten so used to me that sometimes they start eating before I’m even out of the area.
I also told her about the groundhog, bunny rabbits, possums, and hopefully even the skunks I’ve seen around lately.
Her response?
“You’re like a Disney princess… and you even look like one.”
She introduced herself, and when I told her my name, she smiled and said, “Oh my gosh, you really are a Disney princess.”
What she didn’t realize was that her simple comment completely made my day. Possibly even my week.
A few kind words — intentional or not — can brighten someone’s day. They can give someone a reason to smile when they desperately needed one.
There are a few quotes that stand out to me and feel worth remembering:
“You never truly know what someone is going through behind their smile, so be kind whenever possible.”
“A smile, a kind word, or a moment of understanding may mean more than you realize.”
“You never know who needs kindness today. Sometimes even a smile can help carry someone through.”
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”
“You never know how much someone needed that smile you gave them.”
Maybe keep those thoughts in mind the next time you see someone who might need a little kindness.
Smile.
You never know when you might make a difference in someone’s day.
Till next time, have a fabulous week. Fill it with smiles when you can, along with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.
Good night! 😴
