Mid-Week Mishap
I was all set to write my blog yesterdayâtruly, I wasâthen the unthinkable happenedâŠ
I didnât have phone service!
What?! No, I canât be without my phone!
Well, I wasâunless I was near Wi-Fi or satellite. Thinking my phone was the problem, I promptly got in my car and drove to the nearest phone store. As I got out of the car, someone told me not to waste my time, that the service was down.
Silly me thought, okay, I can at least check out new phones. As I walked in, I saw that most of the employees were pretty much twiddling their thumbs.
I asked what was going on, and they told me that the system was down nationwide. I said, âWell, can I look at a new phone or ask some questions?â
I was told, âBut the system is down, so we canât do anythingânot even look at phones.â
This got me thinking: the whole system was down. True, I could text if I was near Wi-Fi. I could also make calls if I could connect to satellite (which I tried, and it didnât work well). Then, if there was an emergencyâof course, you could use the 911 system, which works regardless of whether your phone has service or not.
But what about the emergencies that are not 911-worthy? Your car breaks down and you donât have any serviceâwhat do you do? You have someone who is supposed to be calling (business or personal) and you donât have service. You canât text⊠what do you do?
Better question⊠what did I do?
As I drove out of the parking lot of the largest phone carrier, I went to what is possibly the next largest phone carrier.
Iâve thought about getting another line to use as a work line, but after yesterday, I didnât want just another line; I wanted another carrier. Thankfully, I was able to get an extremely decent price on a phone plan (being over 55 helped), a new phone, and it is still below what my main carrier was quoting me for a new line.
Now, Iâm ready for the next phone emergency (đ€ that wonât happen). This will also work for my business/author events. I can use the business phone to take payments without giving up my ability to take calls.
The time when I couldnât use my phone was not only frustrating, but also kind of niceânot dealing with texts or calls. I may have to take a few moments here and there to âpretendâ the service is down again.
So⊠now Iâm going to close this message, play a little ESO, and hopefully go to bed early (at least by 2).
Have a great week, and Iâll update you on Sunday about my workouts then.
Hope your week is filled with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.đ€
Goodnight!đŽ
