When Your Space Isn’t Ready and Neither Is Your Inner Introvert 🤪

Holiday Cleaning

Have you ever had family coming for the holidays and your house isn’t ready?

Well… my Sweetheart’s mother will be staying with us this week. This isn’t a bad thing; it’s just that I’m not ready, and neither is the house.

I’ve been cleaning the kitchen in my free time. This is a key place, so it needed to be the first room to be cleaned.

Next is the living room — which I’m working on now. So this post will be extremely brief.

I’m in cleaning mode (which even surprises me).🧹

Before I can tackle the living room, I need to straighten my office. I’m working on my office so I’ll have space to move my art and writing supplies — the ones I use while working in the living room on the couch.

Tomorrow, before his mom gets here around 3:00 p.m., I will be shaving and bathing one of the dogs, cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming and mopping the floors, and going to the eye doctor.

So… when people ask me if the holidays are stressful, I have to say yes.

It wouldn’t matter if the house was ready or not (like currently) — it’s still stressful.

I’ve come to realize that my introvert side **likes—no, loves—**her privacy, and anytime people invade that, it becomes stressful.

I’ve never really been one for having people in my “sanctuary,” so to call it. But I used to, and when we first moved into this house, we would host Thanksgiving dinners. Were they stressful? Yes. But I would handle it and then spend the next few days recouping.

I took the Myers-Briggs personality test once, and the consultant who evaluated it said she had never met someone so balanced in the results. According to my score, I was only a point or two more extrovert than introvert. I’m starting to think that if I retook the test today, I would be more introverted than anything else.

So, my introvert is having several panicky moments trying to get ready for tomorrow.

And with that, I will end for now so I can go try to get a few more things done.

Until next time… have a fabulous week filled with family and friends, hugs, love, laughter, and many blessings.🫂

Later 🌻
