Publishing Pains to Fulfillment: When Everything Goes Wrong but Turns Out Right

Time Flew Today! 

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday — almost midnight already! So many things have happened since Sunday.

First, my book finally went live yesterday on Amazon — both the eBook and paperback! Getting this one published was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever dealt with. It felt almost like something, or someone, was against it happening.

Between the first paragraph on page one being missing from both versions, missing an important email about the spine letters being too big and having to resize it (which started the review process all over again for a third time)… it’s been quite a ride. Finally, it went live yesterday! But to order it and have it here for the Southern Literary Festival on Sunday, I wasn’t able to buy it at the author’s price. The books have been ordered and are expected to arrive on Saturday.

Next were the bookmarks that the cover artist was making for me. She was working on them the night before shipping, and her laminator decided not to work right. Sooo… she had to overnight a few things and still work hard to get them sent out on time.

I joked with someone today that if this had been a pregnancy, the labor pains would have lasted close to 90+ hours!

But it’s live — and up on Amazon! My next goal is to get it on IngramSpark. Besides the two book events this month, I have one set up in December in Texas while visiting my sister and family.
