🧳 Traveling with Kindness

Happy Sunday!

This will be a short post today as I’m still in the deep throes of editing and rewriting. My editor needs everything finished and returned by Wednesday (love saying “my editor”). Anyhow, I’ve got a lot of work to do in a very short amount of time.

Today I wanted to talk about kindness.

In recent years, I feel like I’ve seen just as many (if not more) videos about rude behavior as I have about people spreading kindness. But this past week while traveling, I could have made several videos myself—and thankfully, most of them would have been about kindness. So, I’m focusing on the Kindness.

For example:

  • On the plane going to TX, someone helped me lift my bag into the overhead bin (a big help since I’m short). When I landed and went to get my bag, my left knee decided to do something funky. Everyone around me asked if I was okay, and one man even got my bag down for me.
  • When my sister and I went shopping, a kind man helped me find some new perfume and a makeup tint. Yes, it was his job—but he was truly helpful and genuinely nice.
  • At Sally’s, another salesperson went out of their way to give me tips for fixing and strengthening my nails. (Hashimoto’s and autoimmune issues have taken their toll, and my nails are really starting to split.)
  • Even the airline attendant who checked my baggage showed kindness, encouraging me to get assistance. My stubborn self-refused the wheelchair, but I appreciated her concern.
  • TSA was unusually nice this round too — which, as a former TSA agent myself, I really appreciate. There’s rarely a good reason to be rude.

Last but not least – there was Robin and Rex. On the day I was leaving, my sister let me borrow a bag because mine was two pounds overweight (at least not 6lbs as it was on my earlier flight). At the gate, a couple in line with me went above and beyond. They helped me with my bags, chose seats behind me so they could get my bags down when we landed, and even waited at baggage claim to make sure I found the right carousel. Robin and Rex were my earth angels that day—and as it turns out, they like the paranormal too. Kindred spirits indeed.

So, I ask each of you: share a little kindness each day, even when you don’t feel like it. I’d bet you just might feel a little better afterward.

And while you’re spreading kindness, don’t forget to include yourself on the receiving end.

Have a fabulous week, and may it be filled with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings. 💖

Thank you, Robin and Rex❣️ You two were a blessing.
