From Quiet Moments to Big Decisions

After the busy weekend and my last day of class (I was auditing a painting class at Motlow), I’ve had a pretty relaxing week… so far. I’m okay with that, because I know it’s about to get crazy busy again.

I’m preparing for the new Toastmasters year, finishing Dangerous Desires, and then beginning the editing process—first by me, then by two, possibly three editors, plus a few beta readers. After that, one final rewrite and then, hopefully, off to IngramSpark and Amazon to be published.

I was hoping to have it completed by mid-May, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen. This past week, I started slowing down or maybe just losing momentum. Now, when I reread what I’ve written, I find myself debating whether to take the story in a different direction. That would delay publishing even more.

I’m torn. I want it to be the best it can be, but I’d also love to keep it on track for a May release.

To help stay on track, I’ve decided to leave the house for a few hours several times a week to just focus on writing. I have a few places in mind: the school library, the public library, our favorite coffee shop, and maybe even Nick’s “office away from the office.”

I’m not sure where I’ll go first, but somewhere—starting Friday.

On Saturday, we have our Toastmasters meeting, so I’ll most likely stay home to write. Of course, you all know where I’ll be on Sunday.

What are your thoughts? If you were close to finishing a project, would you keep going and finish it the way you started, or would you scrap half of it and go in a new direction?

I took time away from writing to help make sure the conference contests went well. Now it’s time to buckle down again and decide—keep the story as is, or make big changes?

What do you suggest? I’ll make my own decision, of course, but I’m always open to hearing the thoughts of others.

With that, I’ll say good night. I look forward to hearing from you soon, and if you want to visit our Toastmasters club, here is the link. Saturday mornings at 7:30 a.m. Central Time. Harpeth View Toastmasters: https://hvtm.toastmastersclubs.org/

May your days be filled with hugs, love, light, laughter, and blessings.
