Hello and Happy Easter, My Friends!
Easter, like Christmas, brings to mind thoughts of fun with friends and family, celebrations, and of course, the religious images many of us were brought up to believe in — a day of rest and time with loved ones.
For me, it started off extremely slow. I overslept (not that I have a set wake-up time on Sundays, but I’d still like to be up at a reasonable hour). Luckily, my Sweetheart got up and let the dogs out (which both they and I appreciated).
After finally getting up, I went to feed the dogs—only to hear one of them getting sick. My half-awake self did a mad dash to get the others into a different area, got the sick one outside before it happened again, then cleaned up so I could let him back in and finish fixing their breakfast. Whew…
With the dogs fed, I was getting my water ready before heading up to shower. Let’s just say I should have skipped that and gone straight to the shower. I accidentally knocked over my hydrogen water bottle—glass—onto the marble countertop. Needless to say, it shattered. I spent the next 15-ish minutes cleaning up water (it was full) and broken glass.
Once done, I had the fleeting thought of crawling back into bed, but instead, I chose to suck it up and get on with my day.
Changing the direction of my day – I listened to a few of my favorite YouTubers and then sang and danced to the Heckle Fish song while drying my hair. (Heckle Fish is the Why Files mascot—so funny!) Anyway, now I’m at our favorite coffee shop, sharing my Easter with all of you.
Here Comes the Chaos…
Starting today, it’s going to be a crazy busy week.
Once we leave here, I NEED to start painting five or six art pieces. Yes, I could and should have started them way earlier, but alas—my nemesis, Procrastination, struck again.
I’ve already sketched them out on the canvases, but there’s always that fear of messing things up once paint touches canvas. Still, they’ve got to get done.
My Sweetheart shared a video with me this morning that gave me a boost and some inspiration. I’ll include the link at the bottom of this post. (Just a heads-up—he does cuss a bit, but his message is spot on.)
Toastmasters Time
So, today is already packed. After I finish writing, I’ll start painting.
I also have to prepare for the contestant briefing at 7:00 p.m. tonight. As Contest Chair, I’m responsible for:
* Briefing contestants on the contest rules
* Setting the speaking order
* Dashing the hopes of anyone who wanted to use a projector for their prop
* Making sure everyone is registered for the Conference
* Ensure they all have directions to the hotel and rooms containing the conference
There are four contests:
* Evaluation Contest (Friday night)
* Humorous Contest (Saturday morning)
* Table Topics Contest (Saturday afternoon)
* International Contest (Saturday evening)
Making sure everything and everyone is ready means it’s going to be a very busy week!
Creative Commitments
Three of my paintings are for the Conference.
Two are for class projects.
The last one is for my goals group—to be featured on my website for sale.
And let’s not forget…
I’m also writing my first novel, which remains a top priority.
I’ve already postponed the release of my newsletter so I can focus on finishing my novel(s).
The characters in my head are getting louder by the day.
Voices in My Head (No, Really)
Have you ever seen the show Ghosts (both the American and British versions)?
A couple moves into a haunted house, the wife falls down the stairs, and when she wakes up, she can suddenly see ghosts—all of them chattering at once and causing chaos.
That’s what it feels like in my head right now.
Except mine aren’t ghosts—they’re characters in my books (or future books, I should say). Constantly chattering. Constantly pushing. Constantly creating.
And So, It Begins…
Whew! A busy week lies ahead.
This Easter feels like the start of a great adventure in “business,” and I’m genuinely looking forward to getting things done.
They say, “The busier you are, the more you get done.” Or something like that.
Anyway—have an amazing Easter! Whether you believe or don’t, I hope your Sunday has been a good one and that the week ahead brings you great things.
Till next time, I wish you hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.

If you are interested in the “Why Files” here is a link to that YouTube… (Heckle Fish song is at the end)
