It’s Sunday afternoon, and we are at our local coffee shop. My Sweetheart is doing his thing on the other side of the table while I sit and write, listening to a paranormal YouTube channel. Yes, I like to listen to various things while I write, draw, or paint. I either have a Jane Austen movie on or a paranormal video of some sort. Sometimes I go for silence or music, but it depends on the type of story or art piece I’m working on and, more importantly, my mood.
I guess your question to me today would be… Dorey, what is your mood?
Well, we slept in this morning, so it should be good. However, I started off a bit irritated. Not sure why, but I did. My poor Sweetheart was the recipient of some of my snapping this morning. Luckily for him (and anyone else within my immediate vicinity), my mood improved.
Once we arrived at our coffee shop, I found out they have cherry foam (yum!), so I got my normal dragon drink, substituting the dragon pieces with blackberry pieces, ordering it with no ice, and adding some of the cherry sweet cream foam. Big…. YUM!!! I call it a Black Cherry Dragon. This is now my favorite drink, and it helped to improve my mood even more. Is it healthy? Probably not. Is it tasty and a happy drink? You bet it is.
Now I’m in a good mood, with a full tummy and satisfied tastebuds. This sets the stage for a creative time of writing. I’ve designed a new type of drink, and I’m also designing a world in my books. Recently, I’ve had some new characters and ideas come to life, so I really must get Dangerous Desires and Dating Die~Sasters out sooner rather than later. These other characters are clawing their way to the front of the line to be written.
I will be spending more time out of the house writing in the upcoming months. I do have some trips scattered throughout the rest of the year. Honestly, I hope to travel more in the next few years. I’d love to go to Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Greece, New Zealand, Germany, France, and maybe a few other countries. I don’t see myself going to any Asian countries, but it’s not because I don’t like those countries—I do. I just don’t know anyone who would want to join me on those trips.
Regardless of where I travel, I hope to have someone else traveling with me. My Sweetie doesn’t like to travel that much, so that’s where my sisters and friends come into play. But until those longer trips come up, I will enjoy any trip within the U.S. that I can take.
How does travel fit into this blog? Traveling to new places (or not-so-new ones), meeting new people, or just being out of the house seems to trigger creativity for me. Mostly, writing stories, blogs, or newsletters—and someday, I hope to include Plein air art in that time of creativity as well.
I’m not saying that I’m not creative at home—I am—but I just seem to be more creative outside of the house.
Another thing I’m finding is that when I dress up as if I’m going out, it helps put me into a more serious “get things done” mode. A few key things that help are putting on jewelry or mascara, which is a sign that I should be ready to go—either to work or for a visit. I usually only put on jewelry and make-up when I/we are going somewhere, so I am retraining myself to associate certain things (a particular ring, necklace, etc.) with being in creative mode.
So, today has been creative and yummy. Oh, I ended up getting another type of drink, too. One of the baristas was telling me about her favorite drink, and when she left for the day, she made herself one to go — and a small one for me to try. Cherry, mocha, chai—and yes, it was also yummy.
Today has been creative and yummy, which equals a good day. I also got some exercise in, and I will be going to bed at a decent time—before 1:00 a.m. (I’m doing better at going to bed earlier, by the way. One of my steps to being healthier.)
Before I end this blog tonight, I would like to ask each of you to pray for my sister’s big fur-baby, Gaia. Gaia is a big, beautiful Cane Corso (about 130 pounds), and she had to have emergency surgery. The surgery went well, but now she’s not eating. They have tried appetite stimulants, people’s food, and special dog food, and nothing is working yet. My sister, niece, and Gaia have been at the vet’s office for over 24 hours straight. So, I’m asking for prayers, positive vibes, and all good juju to be sent to my sister and Gaia. Thank you all, and until next time, may your days be overflowing with love, laughter, hugs, and blessings. 🙏

Miss Gaia ~ Prayers Please
