Okay, maybe not that close, but I’m close to having my first adult novella completed and ready for beta readers—the first major leg of the publishing process. I already have part of it with my editor, so I’m well on my way to having Dangerous Desires finished on time for Author Con on March 8th and 9th.
I think I’m finally at a point where I can say, “I see a bright light at the end of this very dark tunnel, and it’s not a train!”
Which is why this blog post is a day late. ☹ I’ve even missed some of my daily goals because all I’ve wanted to do lately revolves around my book. I’ve been busy researching things like the Cherokee language, story locations, lodge descriptions… and, of course, writing.
Right now, I’m in Texas with my sister and her family. While my niece is at school, I’ve been writing. When she gets home, I still write—mixed with helping her with homework and spending time with my sister. I did also virtually attend my weekly Toastmaster club meeting and the officer’s meeting, time well spent. Regardless, I’ve been a writing machine most days!
I’m still not entirely sure of the exact ending, but I have several pieces that are slowly guiding me toward it. It’s coming together—not as fast as I’d like, but it’s getting there.
I do admit that today I took a long break to get my hair done. A woman needs to look her best to write, and since my stylist is in Texas, I couldn’t miss the chance!
This time away from home has also taught me something: I work better when I’m not sitting in my house. I’m not sure if it’s the energy of being around others or just the change of environment, but either way, I write more (though I’m not sure if it’s better!) when I’m elsewhere.
So, if you’re ever out and about and see me typing away on my computer, feel free to say hi. I promise I won’t get upset!
Until next time… I hope your week is filled with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.
Now, back to Dangerous Desires!
