Research can be a fun part of writing; it can also be daunting but necessary. My research usually leads me down a rabbit hole of YouTube videos, audiobooks, books, or even movies.
It is also suggested to read what you want to write. I love reading, so picking up a good cozy mystery, romance, paranormal romance, romantic mystery, and even occasionally something a little stronger than romance is easy for me to do. It’s research!
Watching detective shows and movies is… guess what? Research!
Watching good and bad romantic movies is… Research!
One thing I have gotten into watching or listening to, especially since I began writing my paranormal romantic mystery, is YouTube paranormal videos. I’ve got a list of several that are interesting, but there are two that I really like: “What Lurks Beneath” and “The InBetween.” Both of them keep the videos flowing and interesting, with great vocal variety too. I could swear I’ve seen all of their videos, and while watching their channels, I’ve learned quite a few things about paranormal beings that I never knew existed, which helped me come up with one of my paranormal characters. Research!
Do I use the internet? Yes, you don’t want to see my browser. I found out some interesting things about plants and poisons and other slow ways to cause a demise. But with my book, well, I’ll not give it away. You will have to wait and read it.
Depending on what you are writing will also depend on what type of research you will want to go with.
This is a short post with only a few ideas. Big day tomorrow, so I’m heading up to sleep early, kinda early.
