“‘There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.’– Shakespeare
Happy Wednesday! Today has been a good day. I got up early, just as I planned, fed my sweetheart and the dogs, ate breakfast, and then headed to my painting class.
On the way to class, I continued listening to one of the YouTube-style podcasts I enjoy. I kind of consider this research in a way. There’s one channel I’ve been listening to a lot lately – Reel_Adventures. The host primarily reads about encounters with Dogmen. He records most of his videos live, outdoors in Kentucky, and he narrates stories sent to him by people who claim to have had real encounters with Dogmen.
I’ve watched and listened to at least six to ten different YouTube channels, and I do this almost daily—at least four times a week—for over six months. Some of these stories are clearly pure BS, and I’ve been tempted to comment, “Are you serious? A monkey could tell this was fake, and you can’t?” But instead, I chalk it up to what not to do, what not to listen to, and what not to talk about myself.
I say “talk” because my sister and I have considered starting our own YouTube-style podcast. We would discuss the paranormal and more—topics like religion, locations, the Illuminati, and much more. So, I’ve been watching and listening to get an idea of what works and what doesn’t. Plus, as a paranormal romance writer, I try to get a feel for what cryptids are, what people think they are, and how they are characterized.
Now, why did I bring up Reel_Adventures? Because he doesn’t seem to be full of BS. He even states that he’s simply reading what people have sent him—he has no way of verifying whether the encounters are real or made up. He seems like a good ol’ guy from Kentucky, and since I’m also from Kentucky, I decided to give his channel a listen. He isn’t flamboyant like some YouTubers, and he doesn’t try to pass the stories off as verified facts.
He also doesn’t get ridiculous like another YouTuber I’ve seen, who constantly says things like, “Y’all, what do you think? This looks real to me!”— all while showing a picture of a poor, sick dog with mange and claiming it was a chupacabra. I get that they’re doing it for entertainment, but for God’s sake, tell the person who took the picture to go back and help the dog! To me, that was pure BS—stupid, exploitative, and just a desperate attempt to gain followers. I understand that people exaggerate for views—it’s almost expected—but there has to be a way to run a show with integrity. I guess it also doesn’t help that this person’s voice is highly annoying. Needless to say, I rarely watch their channel. And as you can probably tell, I’m not revealing whether they’re male or female. It takes a lot to entice me to listen to or watch their content.
Anyway, the narrator of Reel_Adventures (I believe his name is Kyle) doesn’t do that. He simply tells the stories and lets you decide for yourself. (I’ll include a link to his channel in case you’re interested.)
So, here are my questions for you:
- What do you think about Dogmen?
- Do you believe they exist?
- What cryptids do you think are real?
- Do you think any cryptids exist at all?
- Have you ever had a strange experience with a cryptid, ghost, spirit, alien, etc.?
- Have you ever felt like something was watching you from the shadows? Maybe you heard a noise in the woods that didn’t sound quite… human?
If you believe in these things or have had an experience, I’d love to hear about it! Write to me and share your thoughts and encounters—including ghost encounters, alien sightings, or anything paranormal.
Personally, I believe there are things out there that we have never seen, will never see, and might never want to see. There’s more to this world than I could ever comprehend, and I find it hard to believe that we are the only living beings on this planet. Dinosaurs once roamed the land we live on, and some believe that in the depths of the Appalachian wilderness, there may still be creatures lurking—perhaps even some of the cryptids you’ve heard about.
Well, I’m going to wrap this up and finish listening to the Reel_Adventures episode I started earlier. I’ll include the link to his channel as promised—enjoy and have a great week!
May your week be filled with love, laughter, hugs, and blessings.
