Have you ever done something you hadn’t done in a while and realized just how much you missed it?
I did today.
I’m an artist who hasn’t been drawing, painting, or doing much of anything art-related for several months.
Tonight, I sat down to work on my weekly and monthly goals. One of my monthly goals is to complete a sketch.
As I was deciding what to draw, I realized just how long it had been. I’ve been so focused on revising my book and dealing with “the stressors” that I haven’t taken the time to do anything artistic.
I chose something simple and left it in pencil, but it felt good.
It may not look like much, but it felt wonderful to be drawing again, even something simple.
Holding the pencil, bringing the lead to the paper, and feeling the smooth flow as a shape began to appear reminded me that I am an artist.
With a new month beginning, I’ve updated my daily goals to include at least five minutes of something art-related each day.
I wanted to remind you that if there’s something you’ve always enjoyed doing but haven’t done in a while, ask yourself: What’s holding you back?
As long as you’re not hurting anyone, do it.
Whether it’s drawing, painting, writing, gardening, singing, dancing, or something entirely different, make time for the things that bring you joy.
I know I’ll be returning to drawing, painting, and definitely something art-related from now on. I’ll share some of my finished projects and maybe even give you a sneak peek every now and then.
But for now, I encourage you to rekindle something you love and enjoy it again.
Until then, fill your week with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.
Like I said its simple, but it felt good to draw it.
