The Joy of Creating🥰

“Nothing divine dies. All good is eternally reproductive. The beauty of Nature re-forms itself in the mind, and not for barren contemplation, but for new creation.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of several I recently found that comes close to describing how I feel today—and honestly, any time I’m at my computer writing, sketching in my pad, painting on a canvas, or standing in front of a room giving a speech. Creating something to share with others—or even to hang on my own wall—is deeply rewarding.

Yesterday, I was painting, and as I stood back to look at what I had done, I had to take a moment to appreciate the texture and colors. Since I often like to paint with a sponge, it had a sort of stucco look and feel. I used a few metallic colors, which turned out really well. Seeing the combination of colors blend together to create a piece of art brings such a sense of accomplishment.

There is joy in creating things. I even count my food creations sometimes. Being able to share a creation with others is its own kind of joy. Hearing the “mmm’s” and “yums” as people enjoy a meal I made brings a real warmth to my heart.

Knowing that people enjoy my books, artworks, meals, or even one of my speeches (contest or not) makes me happy.

Do you like to create anything? If so, do you share it with others, or is creating a private joy you keep to yourself?
Do you refrain from creating your “joy”?

If you can think of it, you can create it—or at least give it a good try.

Anyway, I’m heading to bed early because tomorrow I’m going on another school trip—this time to the Frist Museum in Nashville. Unlike the last trip, this one is only a few hours long and right here in the same city. Not nearly as much walking either! (LOL—I’m still recouping from all the walking… my right knee is still mad at me.)

Other than going to class yesterday and the museum tomorrow, I’ve kind of vegged. Which tells me I probably need more exercise to get in better shape for my next trip—coming up in a few months.

So until next time, may your days be filled with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings.
