Finding Happiness in Life’s Simple Moments đź’ť

Are you easily entertained? Can you find joy in simple things? When given a gift—no matter what it is—are you happy about it?

The reason I ask is that the other day, on one of our walks around the block, I found a rock. After taking a few steps past it, I went back and picked it up. It seemed to call to me. It’s a smooth, creamy white rock—nothing special—but I held onto that thing through our walk, through rescuing three Rottweilers that got out of their pens (twice that day!). When I got home, I put it in my art supplies. Am I going to paint it? No. Am I going to use it in an art piece? Maybe. To me, this little rock was a small gift from nature.

Next, I recently ordered a custom laptop sleeve. It wasn’t very expensive, so I hoped it would turn out okay. The estimated arrival time was two to three weeks after purchase, which would put it around April 9th-ish. Guess what arrived yesterday? Yep, my custom laptop sleeve! I was pleasantly surprised at its early arrival and the quality and I was very happy with how it looks. Hence, a simple joy.

I know I’m easily entertained. I’ve been a passenger in a car during a storm and played with the raindrops on the window. I find cat/dog/animal/children’s videos funny and entertaining. I’m also a fan of some (not all) slapstick. I guess I got that from watching The Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, and Abbott & Costello when I lived with my great-grandmother and grandmother while growing up.

Being born in the ’60s and growing up during the ’70s and ’80s was an interesting time. Being raised in a split family, I feel, helped me appreciate what I had. We didn’t always have much, so when we did, I was grateful. Then there were the times I lived with my great-grandmother and grandmother—those were precious. I lived with them off and on, from adolescence to young adulthood. I learned a lot from both of them and appreciated their perspectives. I was blessed to have them. They were a gift from Source.

Gifts come in many forms. Entertainment comes in various ways, as does happiness. Size doesn’t always matter when it comes to these things—it’s how you accept them that counts. Are you grateful for all of it? I hope you are. A little happiness is still happiness, and honestly, to me, some is way better than none. We can all use a little happiness in our lives.

Think about it and go find a little gift from nature for yourself. Rubbing a rock can also be very calming, which is a type of happiness in itself.

I also find joy when I see I have a new subscriber or that someone has liked my post. So, thank you for reading my blogs and looking at my website. You’re bringing a smile to my face—possibly just when I needed it. Thank you.

Til next time… I hope your week is filled with hugs, love, laughter, and blessings. Take care, and know you are appreciated. 🤗
