Embracing Fun and Friendship on Our Texas Road Trip

Happy Sunday!

This was a great weekend. My sweetheart and I went to visit some friends in Texas. He is a gamer (I am too just not as much), and they all play several games together online. Once a year, they have an in-person get-together, and this year, we were able to join in. They are a fun group, and even though I am the more vintage of the group and not as much of a gamer as each of them, they make sure to include me.

We actually drove to Texas this time instead of flying. Driving was good and only a little stressful (LOL). Why did we drive instead of fly? I finally had the nuclear stress test done on Thursday, which was also when we were set to leave. Since there was a slim (extremely slim) chance of things going awry with the stress test, we agreed that it was better to drive than to deal with canceling flights and car rentals. So, driving was the best option.

We made it to our final destination safely, and along the way, we stopped at one of the largest stores/gas stations/fooderies I’ve ever seen, and the beaver mascot was cute. I can see why my sister likes the place so much. So many yummy and fun things to buy… choices galore. They had a nice spice set and a lot of flavored honey, which is what I ended up getting. We still spent way too much money, though, for what we ended up buying. Still, we had fun all the way.

Once at the Airbnb on Friday, we met up with our friends, and the real fun began. I sat out on the first night of board games since I still had my goals to finish up and homework to complete and turn in. But believe it or not, I had fun too just listening and eventually watching them all play. On Saturday, we all went to a VR game place located in a mall. They played, and I shopped – fun for all. I was able to get my weekly exercise goal done at the same time (I forgot walking through a mall is a lot of exercise) while finding a good deal. Sales were all over the place there. Fun! After they played two rounds, one killing aliens and the next killing zombies (I watched, and it looked like crazy fun), we went back to the house and played board games, which I participated in this time. I have to say I’m not a “board game” kind of person, but I had fun. So much fun, I’m looking forward to next year already and may start playing more with family and friends.

Anyway, it’s now Sunday, and we are going to play a few games until a few of us have to leave and head home. We will be heading back tomorrow morning. All in all, this has been a great weekend and a good distraction. I say a good distraction because last weekend I was in heavy mourning. I’m doing better and I’m not crying at the moment I see a picture of Axel, but the ache is still there. If I linger too long on the memory, I will begin the tear flow again, so I pass the pictures rather quickly at least until I’m alone. As I said before, the heartache doesn’t really go away, it hides until a memory shows up.

Thank you all for your support through this. I appreciate your positive thoughts, condolences, and warm wishes. I also want to thank the group from this weekend. You guys made me feel welcome and like I was one of the group. I think you all “ROCK,” and I thank each of you.

So, till next week, have a great time, enjoy each moment, be present with friends and family, and may your time be filled with love, laughter, hugs, and blessings.🌻
