Hello Friends, I hope you are enjoying the summer break, regardless of whether you have kids or not. I remember when I used to drive to work, the traffic flow was always so much lighter when school was out. Less accidents and definitely less stress. Although, I guess for parents it can be a bit much and probably more stress. Having kids home and having to schedule around your work might cause a headache or two.
Then, what about adults who are deciding if they want to go back to school to either change careers, expand their knowledge, or simply because they love to learn? Whatever the reason, it is that time of year.
When my sister was telling me about my niece getting ready to go back to school and what she was doing to help her be prepared for the next level in grade school, it reminded me that I actually wanted to retake a few classes, and now was the time.
So… do I or do I not? 🤔… I think I will. I’ve wanted to retake my art history classes and possibly French, along with a creative writing course. I already have classes on Udemy, EdX, YouTube, and Skillshare, but I want something that is also more interactive. Having other students and instructors to bounce things off of and to hear their questions also helps to spark ideas. I think taking a creative writing course would help with my occasional writer’s block.
With that, I will be (fingers crossed) enrolling in the next semester of classes at Motlow. Preferably online, although getting out of the house may not be such a bad thing either. My inner recluse is not relishing the idea, but my brain may need the stimulation. I have been wondering lately if part of my memory/thought issues is that my brain isn’t stimulated enough. I read a lot, watch various shows and educational videos; but I’m not having the stimulation of connecting with others in conversation. As someone who can be a talker (yes, I am, especially once you get me going), I think I need human communication. At least every now and then. With that, I will be signing up to audit classes. Yes, audit, since after you reach a certain age or if you are handicapped (in some states), you can take classes for free. You won’t receive a grade unless you want to pay for the credits, which you can do. I currently don’t really care about the credits. I am more interested in learning or re-learning, brain challenge, and the connections.
Now for the “goals” update. I have kept all my goals this week, including my art challenge. We have altered the art challenge a wee bit. I sent her around three or four pictures, and she sends me some too. Then we spend ten minutes a day working on the drawings until they are done. I haven’t posted any just yet, but I have finished two and am getting ready to start on a third.
I don’t want to keep you too long, so I will end this with… I hope your week is filled with love, laughter, blessings, and hugs. 🌻
