Week 9 ~ Only A Few Weeks Left!

Week 9 ~ Update…

Happy Sunday! This has been an interesting week in decisions for me. I made some good ones and some that weren’t bad but could have been better.

I gave a speech yesterday that I wrote (and gave several times) last year. My speech was titled “Jungle Journey” and it was about being lost in a jungle of procrastinating, social media traps, binge-watching, and so much more that distracts us from living. I’ve been lost in my jungle (again) and not doing what I need and want to be doing, which is writing and art for a little around 6 months now. I got “stuck”, like in a quicksand pit. Struggling to get out while only sinking deeper. So yesterday after my speech, I decided to take a two-day break from my goals. Give myself some time to reflect and get my momentum and motivation restarted. While I’ve been doing great with my Drawing Challenge, I will be starting all over again with a new day 1 tomorrow. I took a break from drawing as well. Only one day, but with the challenge, if you miss a day, you start all over again. Honestly, I’m loving it so I think I subconsciously kind of did it on purpose. Anyhow, after my speech, my friend gave her speech (we are Toastmasters). Her speech gave me a Fabulous idea, which I presented to her after the meeting. As some may know, I have written a children’s book regarding recycling and helping the environment. Her speech was along those lines but dealt with food waste, composting, and more. Which gave me immediate ideas to add in the Kylie environmental series. I’m excited, so I will be rewriting parts of Kylie to introduce a new character named “Lainey”, an Otter. My friend’s speech was the rope I needed to help start pulling myself out of my funk. Deciding to rewrite Kylie’s first book and start on the second in the series is exciting for me and writing children’s books is one of my loves. Helping to inspire young minds to think and hopefully help preserve and/or save the environment is a passion. Working on becoming a better artist, so I can draw/paint towards awareness of environmental issues will help with my passions for the planet as well.

In my decision-making this week, I’ve decided to take a more direct action on where to write. When I’m home sitting on the couch my big baby (Axel, seen in my picture) runs my time. Also, because of my bad sleeping habits, I end up napping, not writing or drawing. So I have decided to go to either the library or my neighborhood Starbucks to write for several hours a few times a week. At least until I can get my “She Shed Art Studio/Office” put near the house. I will spend at least one day a week working on my adult books, the rest on Children’s books (for a while). Sitting or napping on the couch is not getting my stories or art done and believe me when I say my head is full of characters trying to make their way into the world.

With that, the tally for my goals of total missed days is 7, yet my successes are far better than it may appear number-wise. Each day is a new day. I am grateful for new beginnings.

Now on with our next week and since it is 1:40 a.m., I’m going to close out and then head to bed.

I wish you a Great week filled with Hugs, Love, Laughter, and Blessings! 🌻
