Today is Christmas Eve. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on past Christmases and to remember how grateful I am for everything I have, and most importantly, for those I have in my life.
I could list out everything one by one that I’m grateful for, but I’d rather say I’m grateful for everyone in my life – from friends I pretty much only get to talk to occasionally to friends that are more like family and whom I see on a regular basis. I’m grateful for an amazing partner in life who supports my dreams, helps me believe in myself when I’m questioning or losing faith, and who is by my side through all the health challenges I’ve been going through. From gallbladder surgery when we first met, then the hysterectomy the year later, and now seven years later the BP and kidney issues. He is amazing!
I’m grateful for my health. I may have some health issues, but I’m alive, have all my limbs, most of my organs, and insurance that covers any doctor’s visits I may have to go to. I’m also grateful for every minuscule ounce of creativity that comes to me, be it for art or writing.
Our home, our dogs, all our belongings, my art supplies, and writing utensils – I’m grateful for them all.
Whenever I start to grumble about how I feel or desire something different or better, it’s essential for me to stop, take a breath, and remember that there are those who don’t have things, a home, or who may have just lost a loved one.
Every night, my boyfriend and I share six things we’re grateful for: one thing we love about each other, one thing we apologize for, and one thing we accomplished. It helps us maintain a mindset of gratitude as much as possible, not just during the holidays.
Personally, I feel pretty fortunate. What about you? What are you grateful for, not just now at Christmas, but every day?
Merry Christmas, Hugs, Love, and Blessings! 🎄
