Do you like to fly? I have always enjoyed flying, except nowadays there seem to be more rude people who think they should be able to use up all the overhead space. I’ve started noticing that some passengers who sit in the back of the plane will put their “stuff” in the overhead area in the front, which leaves no room for those seated in the front. Why don’t the flight attendants catch this? It makes their jobs harder and leaves the passengers stressed and frustrated. There was one time I was flying alone, and my seat was located right after first class, but there were no areas above my seat or near it to put my overhead bag. I’m usually really nice and take things fairly in stride, but having to get help with putting my bag up several areas behind me sucked, so I made sure my voice was a little louder when I voiced my irritation. Yes, I know it was passive-aggressive, but I’m okay with that.
So unfortunately, other than arriving in a wheelchair, on crutches, or something to that effect, paying more is the only option. Paying more isn’t always feasible for everyone when buying a ticket, especially with the high rates most airlines charge. Is the option to just buy for the back and confirm early so that you are in an early boarding lineup? Not sure, but I’ve decided my way around it is to board as early as possible. It may cost more, but it is less frustrating for me. Frustration equals stress, which results in higher blood pressure, and that’s not good for anyone. If flying Southwest, I can sit in the back if I want without having to wade past others looking for their seats. If flying American or another airline with assigned seats, I would be able to put my items in the overhead closest to me, not three, four, or more compartments away.
If you work for an airline, have flown enough to figure out your way around, or just have a great idea, I’m open to suggestions. I’m flying more these days, and regrettably, my blood pressure has also been higher. So, suggestions are always appreciated.
Thank you for bearing with my rant. I will attempt to limit rants to once a month and not weekly.
P.S. Yes, I know I missed last week. I’m working on getting better with posting weekly and possibly several times a week. Please be patient; I am a work in progress. Hugs, Blessings, and Laters… 🌻
