Gratefuls

There are times when we may feel that the world is against us or that you can’t dig your way out of a hole.  Sometimes that hole seems to be the size of an ocean and you’ve been dropped smack dab in the middle of it without a boat, dingy or life jacket.  But are things really as bad as they appear? To you or me they seem like the end but in reality they aren’t. You’re late on a bill – pay it as soon as you can, there may be some late fees but it’ll be OK.  Your friend or boyfriend or girlfriend or family member is mad at you for something you did or didn’t do – apologize, talk it out. Either they talk to you again or they don’t, but you are both alive and OK. Sometimes when I’m under the illusion of being dropped in the middle of the ocean with no way to shore, I stop and remember something I’m grateful for. Sometimes I have to work at putting that list together, but once I get started, things just flow and it wasn’t really as hard as I thought. I have so very much to be grateful for and I bet you do as well.  Below is a short (yes short) list of some of my simple gratefuls for today.

Gratefuls for today:

  • My boyfriend and his sweet kisses on the top of my head
  • Hugs that encircle me with love and safety
  • Safe drive home when it’s wet outside
  • Food on the table that I cooked and it taste good
  • Kindness of strangers
  • Smile, text, or message from a friend
  • An email that opens a door to new possibilities
  • Funny videos I can share with family and friends
  • My computer working as fast as I do
  • My car engine light going off
  • Comfy Bed
  • Naps
  • Feeling better now then I did this morning
  • The feeling of creativity as words flow while I type
  • Snores coming from my furbabies
  • Hearing the crunching as Dobby (furbaby) eats his food.  It’s almost like he chews louder when he really likes what he’s eating.
  • Dark brown eyes full of love from each one of my five furbabies.
  • Snuggles at night with my sweetheart

This is my list of gratefuls for today and some will be on my list again tomorrow or possibly everyday.  I just have to remember that when I start feeling like I’m in the middle of the ocean with no boat or life vest to stop and think of all the things I have to be grateful for. I just may realize I’m in a pool on a yacht in the middle of the ocean. And I’m quite OK.
